HRCP Online Practice Tests

Two online practice tests are currently available at HRCP.com: a free 20-question test, and a 100-question test for $29.95 with items that approximate the types of questions you could see on the HRCI certification exams.

Please refer to the following instructions. You might want to print this page or keep this browser window open so you can refer to these instructions during your test.

Test Registration

At the bottom of this page is a button labeled "Start Test" that will open a new window which contains the testing environment. After you have clicked on this button, select which test you would like to take by clicking on the down arrow and selecting a test.

Enter your name and email address. A valid email address is required so we can email you your test results. Don't worry, we won't give or sell your email address to anyone. If you are taking the 100-question test, enter your credit card information in the indicated spaces (remember the slash (MM/YY) in the expiration date). Enter the street address and ZIP code of your credit card's billing address; city and state are not needed. If you are taking the free test, no credit card information is required. Leave the resume code blank and click "Continue".

Write down the Resume Code that appears on the following page. This code will allow you to continue your test if it is interrupted; it will also allow you to return later to review your test results for up to two weeks. Click "Start Now" to begin your test.

Taking the Test

The practice tests consist of questions that are similar to those you might see on the PHR and SPHR certification exams. Each item contains a stem and four alternatives. Three of the alternatives are called distractors, because they are plausible, although incorrect, alternatives that may distract you from the correct response. Your job is to choose the best of the four alternatives.

Select the best answer by clicking on the circle to the left of the alternative. Navigate through the questions by using the "Next" and "Previous" buttons or by clicking on the question number at the left of the screen.

You can mark questions so you will remember to come back to them later by checking the box labeled "Mark this question for later review". Question numbers at the left of the screen are color-coded to help you track your progress. Questions you have answered are marked blue. Questions you have marked for later review are purple. Questions you have not yet answered remain gray. You can jump directly to any question by clicking on the question number.

If you need to exit the test before finishing, simply close the browser window that contains the test by clicking on the "x" at the upper right corner of the window. Do not click on the "I'm Done" button or your test will be scored and you won't be able to answer more questions when you return to the test.

When you have finished answering the questions, click the "I'm Done" button. A confirmation screen will indicate if you have any unanswered questions or questions you have marked for review. If you do, you may click "No" to return to the test. Click "Yes" to submit your test for scoring.

A brief summary of your test results will be displayed. A detailed score report will be sent to you via email. Click "Review" to see the questions and the alternatives you selected. Navigate through the test the same way you did while taking the test. Questions on which you made the correct response are marked green. Incorrect responses are marked red.

Using the Resume Code

You can use your resume code to re-enter the testing environment in order to continue a test you have not completed or so that you can review the questions after you have completed a test. You will have access to your test for one year from the time you begin. Click the link at the bottom of this page to enter the test environment. Select the test you took, enter the same email address you used to register for the test and your resume code, then click "Continue".

Your participation in the HRCP online tests signifies your acknowledgment of and agreement to these terms.
